Signature: Urchin 3 to Urchin 5 Conversion

Urchin 3 is being upgraded to Urchin 5 on all Signature servers. Urchin analyzes your traffic and provides reports for your website.

Currently the Urchin stats can be viewed by either logging into your Control Panel, going to My Website, and clicking on "view statistics", or you can go to the URL directly. The URL would be something similar to the following:
http://example.com/urchin
Making sure the conversion was successful
Now when you click on "view statistics" or when you go to the URL directly you will see your reports listed in the new Urchin 5 web interface. All old Urchin 3 statistics should have been converted to Urchin 5. You will want to compare the old Urchin 3 statistics against the new Urchin 5 statistics to make sure the conversion was successful. To do this, open a web browser and go to the URL directly using /urchin3 to view the old Urchin 3 statistics. Change domain.com in the example below to your domain name:
http://example.com/urchin3

Open a second browser window and view the new Urchin 5 statistics:

http://example.com/urchin
If the information displaying in the new Urchin 5 is correct you should remove the old /www/urchin3 directory to free up diskspace. You can use FTP, the Control Panel, or Shell access to remove the directory. To remove the directory using the Control Panel follow these instructions:
  1. Connect to your Signature Control Panel
  2. Select My Files from the drop-down list at the top of the window. The My Files Home page appears.
  3. Click the All Files tab. The All Files window appears.
  4. Click on the www directory listed under the directory contents. The contents of the www directory appear.
  5. Check the box next to urchin3 under the directory contents and click delete. A confirmation window appears. Select yes to delete the urchin3 directory.
Troubleshooting help I can't see old Urchin 3 statistics in Urchin 5?

This is likely because:
  1. No Urchin 3 statistics previously existed.
  2. Urchin 3 was previously disabled by removing the .urchin file from the home directory.
  3. The account was too near quota and the conversion could not take place without making the account go over quota.
  4. The conversion is still taking place and should be completed shortly.
If after 24 hours (allowing enough time for the conversion to take place) the Urchin 3 statistics are still missing from the new Urchin 5 statistics check to make sure your account is not close to quota. If the account is close to quota remove unnecessary files and contact support to have the conversion script ran again. Eventually the /urchin3 directory will be removed from all Signature servers.
