Server Software Notification List Message - updates for 5-14-2008
Important updates in this Notification:
- Sendmail RBL for Linux, v3, and v2

The following dist will be completed 5/14/2008 on all servers:
Linux MPS/VPS:
- Sendmail RBL
- The sendmail.cf configuration file will be updated to remove references to the ordb.org blacklists. No action needed.
- ClamAV
- The vinstall for ClamAV, a GPL virus scanner, will be updated to better configure logging options. This update affects the vinstall only.
The freshclam updating utility will be updated to restart whenever virus definitions are updated.
No action needed.
- vlistuser
- The vlistuser command will be updated to not display the "nobody" user. No action needed.
- PostgreSQL
- The vinstall for the PostgreSQL database management system will be updated to install version 7.4.19. This version addresses several issues, including security concerns. More information about the security issues and version 7.4.19 can be found here:

To upgrade existing installations, make a backup of all databases, uninstall the system, and then reinstall by connecting to your server through SSH and executing the following from the prompt:
# vinstall postgresql

- cURL
- The intermediate certificate bundle for the cURL file transfer utility will be updated. No action needed.
- Semaphores
- The allotment of system semaphores will be doubled for each account. No action needed.
- SquirrelMail
- The vinstall for the SquirrelMail Webmail package will be updated to address problems with mail directories.
To install SquirrelMail or update existing installations, make a backup of your current configuration, uninstall the application, then connect to your server through SSH and execute the following from the command prompt:

FreeBSD MPS/VPS v3:
- Sendmail RBL

- PHP 4.x
- The vinstall for the PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor scripting language for version 4.x will be updated to add SQLite to the optional extensions. This update affects the vinstall only. No action needed.
- ClamAV
- The vinstall for ClamAV, a GPL virus scanner, will be updated to better configure logging options. This update affects the vinstall only. No action needed.
- vlistuser
- The vlistuser command will be updated to not display the "nobody" user. No action needed.
- sinfo
- The sinfo command-line utility will be updated to better display IPv6 addresses. No action needed.
- Apache 2.x
- The APache eXtenSion (apxs) build tool for the Apache Web server version 2.x will be updated to address issues with linked libraries. No action needed.
The default httpd.conf configuration file will also be updated to include a specification for the extended log format. This format is not common. However, to add this specification to existing accounts, edit the /www/conf/httpd.conf file and add the following line (all on one line):

- Mailman
- The vinstall for Mailman, the GNU Mailing List Manager will be updated to correct information about default list aliases. This affects the vinstall only. No action needed.
- mod_perl
- The vinstall for the mod_perl Apache module will be updated to better detect existing installations. This update affects the vinstall only. No action needed.
- Portupgrade
- The Index-6.db file used by The Portupgrade FreeBSD ports/packages administration management tool suite will be updated to reflect current packages and dependencies. Some package and port timestamps will also be updated. No action needed.
- Rsync
- Rsync, an open source utility that provides fast incremental file transfer, will be updated to version 3.0.1. This version updates the utility. More information about version 3.0.1 can be found here:
