SWISH-E - Web Site Search Utility
SWISH-E is an indexing and search system designed to be both fast and easy
to customize, allowing you to index and search Web pages, or other text files, mailing lists, or databases.
SWISH-E is not a 'turn-key' indexing solution, but instead provides you with a number of powerful indexing tools
that you can modify and use however you want. It is a very good idea to read the
SWISH-E README for details of what is possible
with SWISH-E, and how to do what you want.
Installation
We have created an easy-to use vinstall script to help you install SWISH-E on your server. Simply
SSH to your Virtual Private Server,
su to root and run the following command:
# vinstall swish-e
This will install a number of files on your server. First, the swish-e program itself, which will be
installed to the /usr/local/bin/ directory. In addition, you will get several example configuration files
in your /usr/local/share/examples/swish-e/ directory, and the documentation for SWISH-E in your
/usr/local/share/doc/swish-e directory.
